Alert! Alert! In response to NHS England’s desire for 30% cuts "Integrated Care Boards" (ICBs) are proposing a 50% cut to the Designated Nurse roles for Looked After Children. These roles are the lifeblood of advocacy and protection. Reducing them means silencing a key voice that stands up for children who often have no one else. It threatens the safety, stability, and health equity of our most vulnerable.

These concerns are echoed at national level by the National Network of Designated Health Professionals (NNDHP), who have issued warnings about the disproportionate risk these cuts pose to children in care. We cannot achieve ‘levelling up’ or deliver on promises to reduce health inequality if we dismantle the very roles designed to safeguard. those at greatest risk.
