Abraham Lincoln

Born February 12, 1809. I'm a lawyer seeking election to the senate.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

@DouglasSenate Congratulations on alienating southerners with Freeport Doctrine. #VoteLincoln

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

@DouglasSenate I challenge you to reconcile popular sovereignty with the Dred Scott decision.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

I as much as any man, favor having superior position assigned to the white man. @DouglasSenate cares not whether slavery is voted up or down

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

Physical differences between whites and blacks will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

@DouglasSenate I am not nor ever have been in favor of bringing about social and political equality for the black and white races.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

Let us discard all arguments of inferiority among the races so we can finally stand united and say that all men are created equal.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

@DouglasSenate If we cannot give freedom to every creature, let us do nothing that will impose slavery upon any other creature.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

@DouglasSenate I have no purpose to interfere with slavery in the states where it exists. I have no right or inclination to do so.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

@DouglasSenate You work, I eat. You toil, and I will enjoy the fruits of it? That is not ok. That is what slavery is.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

It is argued that the inferior race is to be treated with as much allowance as they are capable of enjoying. That is an excuse for enslaving

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

@DouglasSenate “All men are created equal” links hearts of patriotic, libertyloving men together. Black and white.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

Our founding fathers fought for the principle they were contending for to allow us the liberties we have today.

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

I agree to an arrangement for us to speak, if you say when and where soon so that I can have time to prepare. #Election #1858

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

Can you agree to make an arrangement for you and myself to divide time, and address the same audience during the present canvass?

[Abraham Lincoln @LincolnSenate]

Running for Senate! Vote Lincoln!
