"Democracies are fragile. Democracies can fail. And what citizens do or fail to do in a moment of crisis can determine the final fate of government of, by and for the people." — @VanJones68 https://t.co/jzq5dbFvsT
#BlackatUark is being told by numerous white people that you look “scary”. Its having your white friends kicked out of a frat house because they “brought the n****** with them”. Its being asked what sport you play and getting mistaken for black athletes twice your size.
#BlackatUark is being too scared to speak out about being black at uark because you have one semester left and dont want to ruin your future over wanting to be treated fairly.
Its asking for help in a class groupme and getting no response but watch as the white girl who sent a message right after you gets several speedy replies.
#BlackatUark is when you get reported to your chair for focusing on Black people in your... Wait for it... INTRO TO AFRICAN AND AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDIES COURSE
#BlackatUARK is being the only black person in your speech class and get crazy stares because all your speeches are about the injustice and police brutality that black people have endured
Being #BlackatUark is having my mom scared for my safety because my name is on a letter addressing the racist actions of UARK students and demanding change on my campus. It hurts telling my mom that I’m okay at a school that I honestly don’t even feel safe at anymore.
#BlackatUARK is walking by the student union and being blatantly ignored by the white people promoting different programs .. but they go out their way to converse with their own kind
being #blackatuark is a white ROCK Camp mentor wanting a diversity and inclusion activity taken out of the program bc it makes her uncomfortable. this is the definition of not understanding white privilege.
