When @byreginamahone & I were coming up with the podcast, one of the narratives we wanted to change was that The Handmaid’s Tale is the only book on abortion. For @ELLEmagazine we wrote about our There Are Other Books and give you a fabulous reading list:

My life is a lot of “you talk and laugh too loud” which has messed me for life but tonight’s entry is this Tori Amos concert where some ladies behind me told me to shut the fuck up when talking to my friend at the level where she could hear me. 🤐🤐🤐
When this airport bar was playing Motownphilly and Are You That Somebody and Poison and my flight kept getting delayed and I couldn’t get the servers attention for 30 mins, it was cool. But now that it’s Jump Around, I gotta pay this check.
I only learned during THIS YEAR’s Cannes there’s a Palm Dog “awarded to the best performance by a canine (live or animated) or group of canines.” I missed it for 20+ years! I can’t stop thinking literally everyone else is failing by not awarding its own Good Dog at every chance.
Thinking about it again because this morning, I just learned the additional charming detail “the award consists of a leather dog collar with the term ‘PALM DOG.’” I honestly feel like I’ve been asleep at the wheel. How has this slipped past me?
In the shower this morning, I remembered the line from Succession last night when Shiv was like “how bad was dad?” And Frank said “he was a a salty dog…But he was a good egg.” And I laughed again. Also now I’m hungry for breakfast.
I know all my tendencies and flaws (there’s a few tbh), so I recognize both my genius and the obvious trap I’m setting for myself by watching Burlesque on Netflix right before I get dressed to go to a concert tonight.
