It’s okay to discern and follow through with:

“I’m going to sit this one out, because I can’t show up fully as myself”

“All the people that will be present, I don’t have strong enough bonds with.”

“They’ve shown me who they are already.”

This whole #shanquellarobinson tragedy has been truly messing with me And I’m still processing…

I see a lot of “Everybody is not your Friend” posts which is true! But we’re doing each other a disservice just leaving the discussion at that surface level.

Nope, everybody is not your friend!
But there are perpetrators, manipulators and devious spirits that play on your emotions that can portray they are.

As a young 25 yr old, it can be hard to navigate truth surrounding this.

I can't stand the "everybody not your friend" saying. It just unfair and saddeneding that they did her like that. We must protect one another. Quella was passionate about braiding the young hair. Those babies loved her and was blessed to have someone so AUTHENTIC.

Sometimes we as loving solid people can’t fathom why people we consider friends would be jealous.

Or maybe it’s a group you’ve known you outgrown but you stick around and endure all the sly comments and actions because it’s the history.

I believe in that very moment while #shanquellarobinson was helplessly beaten and her other “friends” recorded. She thought back to instances (big or small) that were signs she shouldn’t have went on the trip.

She wasn’t safe. And it was too late.

The truth is, Shanquella was on this trip because she felt some (emphasis on some) level of safety and comfort with this group.

The manner and evil spirit in which she was beaten highlighted the envy.

What’s missing from the conversation is not dismissing your discernment.

I can’t stand a “I’m gonna attach a task and or limitation to your request/need ” kinda person.

Normalize just saying no if you don’t have the ability to detach from control.

You weren’t gonna do that task, if I hadn’t asked!
