The argument for spurs spending money is a simple comparison. A person who saves money for 20 years has money to spend in a downturn when someone who lives paycheck to paycheck must sell assets in a downturn. Simples.

It’s all comparable. Someone on 2m a year is surrounded by people on 2m a year and lives a lifestyle to match, they’ll also have hangers on and families to find and renting mansions wherever they move to. I agree but I’d take more money than long term “he worked hard here” status at my job.
