Absolutely pleased to share the last chapter of my PhD work, alongside great contributions from fellow co-authors (including 2 superb undergrads Alex and Martina) on deciphering sexual dimorphism in wing scales of the orange sulphur
Very proud of @Lings_ll and the Martin lab team on this one, where we begin to unpick the molecular basis of sex-dimorphic cell type specification and differentiation in Colias butterflies.
Excited to present this preprint in collaboration with @Lings_ll & @Hanliconius where we query the homology relationship between ๐ท๐๐๐ ๐๐โ๐๐๐ bristles and butterfly/moth scales. Read along for insights garnered from live imaging (my contribution), sc-RNAseq, and more!
New preprint alert from @lings_ll, @Hanliconius and @KyleDeMarr with the Martin, Wray and Patel labs. We are pleased to share our work outlining evidence for how lepidopteran scale cells are derived from sensory organ precursors (SOPs). https://t.co/pP9HH5icGT 1/
In sum, the combination of live-imaging and snRNAseq time-series data provided unprecedented resolution to uncover cellular and genetic hallmarks during SOP differentiation and division into lepidopteran scale- and socket-building cells. 9/
