It is not short for liberal, despite what many people assume. Libertarian literally means someone who values liberty and individual freedom.

Whether you're conservative, liberal, independent, or somewhere in between, freedom is something most Americans can agree is worth protecting.

Libertarians have quietly won hundreds of local elections across the nation over the last several years. Thomas Massie, Ron Paul, Justin Amash all served gracefully in the U.S. House of Representatives governing as Libertarians.

It’s blatantly false to claim Libertarians cannot win elections.
