@nick_lipple@HpoolQuay@NatHistShips@NatMuseumRN Hi Nick, we don't tend to use epoxy as it is as conservation project as opposed restoration. In this case we used semparoc as it goes off at relatively low temperatures.
Been working on a side project at work to store wood samples we sometimes call upon to assist timber identification. Not a best showing of my patience with the dovetails but I am really happy with the bookmatching effect I have achieved on the lid #Shipwright#Joinery#Hartlepool
Been building a nice collection of wood samples over the last two and a bit years. I have most of them with a varnish finish, oil finish and no finish. Recently started making a box to put them in. The box is by no means my best work but the project as a whole has been fun.
One of the tool lockers was getting a but cluttered so I created some organised storage space for the sand paper today. Nice little improvement to the workshop. #Shipwright#Boatbuilding#Joinery#Skills#Hartlepool
Before and after. The final coat of paint went on the restored rope table yesterday, and this morning , I put it back on the ship. My rope work isn't amazing, but I am a shipwright, not a rigger! #Shipwright#Boatbuilding#Joinery#Painting#Skills#Hartlepool
Not all the jobs on board HMS Trincomalee are interesting. Here I am continuing the replacement of weathered screws to safeguard easy access to the cable tray which houses all our modern electrics and alarm systems. 300 down, 700 to go... #Shipwright#Skills#Hartlepool
After completing the repairs last week, I sanded down and applied the first coat of paint on the rope tables today. Black isn't the most exciting colour, but it dies bring them a bit more to life. #Joinery#Boatbuilding#Shipwright#Skills#Hartlepool
Got the first rope table repair glued up today. Lots of clamps required! Will clean up in the morning and take off the ends of the dowels where I have screwed the repair into the existing structure. #Joinery#Boatbuilding#Shipwright#Skills#Hartlepool
Been busy working on the rope table repair. Slowly getting there. We were a bit low on appropriate sized opepe :. Scarph joint. Replacing the side where the damage and wasp eaten was. There's a repair to do on the base too. #Joinery#Boatbuilding#Shipwright#Skills#Hartlepool
