Digital Workspace Management

[Liquidware @Liquidware]

Five problems were costing one utility company almost $3 million a year.

Not outages. Not breaches. Just everyday workspace issues quietly eating into productivity across 5,000 users.

The hard part wasn't fixing them. It was finding them.

With Stratusphere UX, their admins traced each problem to its root cause and ranked them by impact, so the biggest drains got fixed first.

The estimated payoff: almost $3 million a year in recovered uptime.

You can't fix what you can't see.

Your AVD bill went up again.
Nobody's quite sure why.

You're not alone. Plenty of organizations are watching AVD costs climb well past budget, and the causes rarely show up on the invoice. They hide in how session hosts are sized, how profiles grow and how many images your team maintains.

Fixing it doesn't mean ripping anything out.

Join us next week on October 29th where Thomas Lahaussois and Chris Walker will walk through seven low-investment, high-impact strategies that have helped organizations save about 12% on AVD costs on average, without sacrificing user experience.

The FlexApp One trial just got a lot bigger.

We expanded the library to 72 apps you can download and run with a double-click. Nothing to install, no server to set up.

And they’re not toy apps: Docker Desktop, Blender, OBS Studio, Wireshark.

If you’ve ever wondered “will this work with our stuff?” this is a quick way to find out.

The best place to diagnose desktop problems?
Apparently, the Royal College of Surgeons.

On Tuesday, Nov. 24, the @eucforumuk Winter Meeting takes over the Royal College of Surgeons of England in central London for a full day of community-led sessions, honest conversations and networking with people who live and breathe end-user computing.

Liquidware is proud to sponsor, and Mark Pooley will be there ready to talk through whatever's ailing your environment, from slow logons to messy profiles to runaway cloud costs.

Tried explaining your job at a family dinner lately?

"So you fix computers?"
Close enough.

There's a better place to talk about logon times, golden images and why that one profile keeps breaking.

The Liquidware Slack community is full of IT pros who already speak the language. Ask questions, trade fixes with peers and get answers straight from the Liquidware team.

The biggest factor in choosing AVD or Windows 365 isn't the feature list.

It's who your users are.

Shift workers, knowledge workers and developers need very different things from a cloud desktop. Pick the platform before you understand your workforce, and the problems show up later.

Our engineers have deployed in hundreds of AVD and Windows 365 environments. We turned what they see in the field into a 9-question assessment that gives you a personalized platform split score.

The right platform starts with the people logging in.

[Liquidware @Liquidware]

At @Microsoft Ignite, you'll hear about AI in nearly every session.

Here's what's easier to miss: the people using all that AI still log in to a desktop every morning. Somebody has to manage it, keep it fast and pay for it.

That's the conversation we're bringing to booth 5320R.

AVD, Windows 365, Citrix or physical PCs, our team can talk through what's slowing your environment down and what it's costing you.

Moscone fills up fast. So do our calendars.

Your AVD environment is haunted.

Not by ghosts. By oversized session hosts, bloated profiles and more golden images than anyone can keep track of.

They don't rattle chains. They just quietly add to the cost of every desktop you deliver.

Two days before Halloween, Thomas Lahaussois and Chris Walker will share seven practical ways to clear them out. These approaches have helped organizations save about 12% on AVD costs on average, without sacrificing user experience.

No major overhaul required. Just a flashlight and the right data.

Friday: 4,500 employees on physical PCs.
Monday: 4,500 employees on Citrix virtual desktops, every setting and file right where they left it.

That was one mass transit organization's migration. Over a single weekend.

Liquidware ProfileUnity pulled each user's existing profile from Azure storage into Citrix and redirected their data folders to OneDrive. Nobody rebuilt a desktop. Nobody lost a file.

The result: $900,000 in admin hours avoided and $1.08 million in downtime that never happened.

The best migrations are the ones nobody notices.

[Liquidware @Liquidware]

Every new user group gets its own desktop image. That's how image sprawl starts.

Then every app update means rebuilding those images all over again.

Liquidware FlexApp separates applications from the Windows OS. Apps are packaged once and delivered on demand, so one image can serve far more users.

One large energy supplier found 381 apps that were strong FlexApp candidates across 7,100 users. Simplifying their updates saved an estimated $285,750 in maintenance.

Fewer images. Fewer rebuilds. Less time spent on work nobody sees.

[Liquidware @Liquidware]

Ignite will be full of AI agents this year.

Every one of them still runs on a desktop somebody has to deliver, secure and keep fast.

That's the conversation the Liquidware team is bringing to @Microsoft Ignite, Nov. 17-20 in San Francisco. Find us at booth 5320R.

Six questions. A clear picture of where your desktop environment is leaking money.

That's the idea behind the Liquidware Value Calculator.

Share a few basics like users, image pools and app count. The calculator breaks your estimated savings into four categories: application lifecycle efficiency, image optimization, licensing savings and profile management overhead.

You don't just get a number. You see where it comes from.

Your AVD bill probably isn't high because of one big mistake.

It's high because of a lot of small ones. Oversized session hosts. Bloated profiles. Too many golden images.

On Oct. 29, Liquidware's Thomas Lahaussois and Chris Walker will share seven practical strategies that have helped organizations save about 12% on average on AVD costs, without sacrificing user experience.

No major overhaul required. You'll leave with steps you can take the same day.

Paying for capacity nobody uses isn't a cloud strategy.

Thousands of clinicians. A hard Citrix renewal deadline. Zero room for disruption at the point of care.

That was the starting point for a regional healthcare network moving its entire digital workspace from on-premises Citrix to Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.

Several thousand concurrent users. Epic and other clinical apps that had to work on day one.

Legacy profile and app delivery approaches were too slow and too rigid for the cloud. So the team turned to Liquidware ProfileUnity and FlexApp.

The key shift: clinical apps, including Epic, attach at boot instead of at login. App delivery moves out of the login sequence entirely.

The result was logins under 20 seconds and a migration finished well ahead of the renewal deadline. Their senior IT leader said the team didn't have to give up performance to hit the timeline.

A registry key used to take 30 seconds. In Intune, it can take half a day.

Liquidware ProfileUnity closes that gap, working side by side with Intune to handle what the Settings Catalog can't. Without it, the gaps get filled with scripts that need detection logic, break after Microsoft changes and become orphaned when their author leaves.

In his latest blog, Sander Noordijk explains how ProfileUnity handles registry items, printers, drive mappings, shortcuts and app restrictions, with user-level targeting that device management can't easily match.

"It depends."

That's the answer teams give most often when asked whether AVD, Windows 365, or a hybrid approach fits their environment. It's also usually the most honest one.

We hear it every year at @Microsoft Ignite, in almost every desktop modernization conversation. The right platform split depends on device fleet, user profiles, network reality, and a dozen other details that never make it into a keynote slide.

We'll be at Ignite Nov. 17-20 in San Francisco, working through exactly that "it depends" with IT teams who are tired of generic answers.

If your team is untangling its own AVD, Windows 365, or hybrid desktop strategy, let's talk specifics while we're both there.Grab a spot on the calendar before November fills up: https://t.co/h8UQ0XJk3R
