I asked a builder to open this ground floor chimney breast to make space for shelving.
It is chimney breast no 3 and had a slanted flue and its own chimney pot.
I am a little concerned that it is now only 1 brick wide.
Any suggestions?

Good morning!
Can any one advise if they have ever come across a Victorian chimney with a wood beam at the bottom which seems to be supporting the bricks on top. The area in the red lines is wood. Very degraded wood. Wet and crumbly.
