@wfxclipz Once watched a documentary that claimed Andy Warhol was proclaimed dead before the doctors learned he was Warhol and saved his life - cops, doctors, nurses... Why are they allowed to work such long and brutal shifts
@Lightenerrthang@AppleTV Only if it doesn't go the way of For All Mankind. That show was never as consistent, but it had sublime highs. Now, even with the introduction of the wonderful Mireille Enos, it's unwatchable. It's the writing.
@gmgeiko The Daily episode about the Mississippi miracle is worth checking out. A teacher had a hard time with "tortoise." According to their reporting, the teachers really appreciate the intensive coaching they're receiving. My kid's local school in CA scores 2/10 in testing. No charters
"The way he described the politics of the man who killed Charlie Kirk." Really, @nytimes? Government should NEVER interfere with speech, 100%, but what Kimmel said was misinformation. Radicalizing misinformation-flatly and knowingly untrue. The Daily used to be so good.
@AGoldmund Hellbound-unwatchable, but imagining how behaviors would change in a world of instant karma=interesting
Walking Dead World Beyond- how do people behave w/in a completely new psychic/physical reality- Station 11 touched on this with the lead's emotional immaturity
@mattyglesias Something is lost when neighborhoods erect monochromatic sq-ft-maximizing monoliths. Where I live, "urban planning" to accommodate the changes feels more like magical thinking (!!). I understand the impulse to push back on nimbys, but we can do better. It's slop, irl
@Handre The medallion holders got utterly screwed in a way that, in 2013, felt profoundly unAmerican. To suggest they were whiners who simply didn't want to compete is a gross mischaracterization of the situation.
@chr1sa@khanacademy I just observed a day at my daughter's school. I was really impressed by Singapore and rocket math. Instead of listening to a single lesson that may/may not be relevant, she made real progress on problems that were challenging but achievable. What am I missing?
@CollinRugg Listen to the clip. I'm no fan of piker, but I really hate posts like this. Dumbs everything down. Piker does all the throat clearing and specifically cites china using state power to build their way out of poverty
@CameronCorduroy@Noahpinion It's the .5 he cited, no? Not sure it's useful to try to memory hole the fact that the loudest in the room turned A LOT of people off. (Absolutely including pre '25 Harris) Trump seems to be sending them back to the left. Useful to acknowledge what went wrong last time, no?
Not just healthcare
"I believe people w powerful voices, like myself-like you, especially women to women, need to pave a new path-our beautiful country, our red, white, and blue flag, is being ripped to shreds. I think it takes women to have the maturity to sew it back together"
