Whenever I write about Gaza, I hear from smart, pained readers who agree with me on most issues but believe I'm way too tough on Israel. So in today's column, I take on their concerns and explain why I believe U.S. support for the Gaza war is a moral and practical catastrophe. It comes down to this: Whether you're pro-Israeli or pro-Palestinian, what's most important is that you're anti-massacre, anti-rape and anti-starvation. If you care only about the human rights of Israelis or only about human rights of Palestinians, you don't actually care about human rights. We Americans have ignored this, and we bear responsibility: https://t.co/eJu6OCS2hV

After 27 years at Bloomberg News in three bureaus, I'm retiring tomorrow. It's been a great run with great colleagues. Also a shout-out to my previous gigs: CBS News Radio, RFE/RL, the Associated Press and the former KRON-TV. @business
