YA/NA Author. I've written too many books to list, which is the way I like it. I also write stuff my mom can't read as @candysloane BOOKS ARE MY BEST FRIENDS
@taylorswift13 I don’t know if you’ll see this. My 8 year old has her birthday in 4/19 and she is so excited #TTPD is out on her birthday. She wrote you this note ♥️
#WriterCommunity please reply. Do you find that you start a book, are crazy excited about the characters & premise and then at 10,000-15,000 words you H a T e it & rather than fix it you just start a new book? Or is it just me?
1/2 Our Museum is the national memorial to the six million Jews killed by Nazi Germany and its collaborators. It is deeply offensive to survivors and the memory of the victims to exploit Holocaust history.
This is embarrassing 😳 when I debuted, I added fake 5 ⭐️ reviews, asked friends to add them & even bought copies for rankings. That is how off this business can make you. What I didn’t do was 1 ⭐️ OR target anyone. I had obsessive tendencies & harmed only myself with them so 🤷♀️
The only way I can wrap my head around removing MG, children’s & comics/ graphic novels from GR awards is b/c they exist mostly as physical books which take up “space” in warehouses & require shipping cost. This is AMZ looking ahead for its bottom line at the peril of children.
@bethrevis I was going to suggest @LadyHawkins The Villa. It’s super! I couldn’t finish House of Leaves terrified me. Like so much I had to remove it from my home.
#Yellowface is beyond brilliant- BUT-and maybe this is one of the ironies it is meant to illustrate-June is white and has no identity of her own. So, is that portrayal written by an Asian author not its own stereotype? As if Caucasian culture does not exist on its own
Can I be angry that my books weren’t on the AI scraping website? I get the anger of having work there without your approval but what about being so irrelevant you’re not even considered.
Gun owners real question: is it normal to grab your gun when your doorbell rings? You know what non-gun owners do when they don’t want to answer the door? Hide until they go away.
It’s interesting how people not supporting your creative endeavor is now news. Some writers would take a picture of empty chairs to hold a book in their hand. I’m not against commiserating but rejection is now a marketing strategy. Wish it was when I was a baby author.
Hear me out … a date picker for viewing news & social media. I’m on season 2 of Ted Lasso so if I chose 2022 I could be spoiler free! Want to pretend the pandemic never happened you can do that too. FB can be permanently paused at 2000 (like it kind of already is)
We always talk about books that inspire our writing. But what about books so crazy good they make you like-why even bother? The Push is one in this category. So so deft, smart, layered and lyrical. I finished it and needed to take a day off to recover. What book did this to you?
