So a player that people say is legendary just because of his record when he in fact was one of the very best players ever as well is overrated. The guy who was snubbed out of many ggs and another mvp?
He has over 3000 hits and over 400 hrs while playing SS. Also, you might want to look up just how elite his defense was. I feel Cal is actually one of the most under valued legends ever because all people think of the streak. There is a reason why he has almost every Oriole record, why he has the SS hr and RBI records, I belive he is ranked 3rd in glove at SS. People give so much credit to players who were the best offense but not much defense and people give a lot of credit of players who had the best defense and not much defense and then you have Cal, not the very best at either but might be one of the very best all around players. Cal is DEFINITELY not overrated.. Hes always lower on lists than his stats suggest.
@Dsieta76@DanClarkSports why not? How many players had 3000 hits and 400 homeruns while playing elite defense at SS? He absolutely belongs in the top 50.. People just underrate his play too much.
@RichardNBalls1@OleTimeHardball haha.. the fact that all people think he did was play everyday and ignore the fact that he is actually one of the very best all around players in the game according to stats.. yet not many put him up there.. tells me he was actually very underrated for his play.
Cal is the most UNDERRATED player because all people k ow of his streak. How is the only clean SS ever to have 3000 hits and 400 hrs. The first and only SS to hit 20 hrs for at least 10 straight seasons- he hit 12 seasons. The SS with the hr and RBI record for the position. He is ranked 4th in defense of all players. Who else played every game and only made 3 errors in a season along with going 95 straight games without an error and still has the record going 430 straight putouts without an error? Its sad that despite that stats saying he is up there that people continously put him down and underrate him.
@JSD12120831@BBGreatMoments Really? Cal had significantly better defense and also better power. Jeter was great but he didnt seem to have Cal's defensive instincts.
@watjalukinat@BBGreatMoments Also, on top of all that you would really keep one of the only SSs to have 3000 hits and 400 hrs out of the top 10? Also, you might want to look up his defense stats, hes actually ranked 4th in defense in ALL positions. Seems to me you're just not a fan of his
Ozzie, wow- most would, Larkin was great but if you compare all around- Cal beats him out, AROD he has better stats but lets be honest he had some help.
Cal - He might have not been the best hitter ever and might have not been Ozzie on the field.. However he was best all around..
But no matter what, you probably are just not a fan of his.. and your always going to put him down even if he is the best SS of the modern era.
