For hundreds of years, humanity has relied on science to improve lives. Science tests hypotheses, uses data, and follows a systematic method in pursuit of the truth. It’s not perfect of course. But destroying American science as we know it will only send us backward.
"Modern societies, as Americans are soon to learn, cannot function without experts in every field, especially the many thousands who work in public service," writes @RadioFreeTom. https://t.co/RXqbv8B4Tg
The American scientific enterprise supported by the federal government is fundamental to progress and protecting life, property and health. It fuels discovery, innovation, jobs, and prosperity. Reach out to Congress and the White House to let them know you support NOAA, NASA, NSF
The Docks Family lost their beloved Aunt Megan to #pancreaticcancer just 20 months after her diagnosis. Determined to honor her memory and make a difference for patients, sisters Margot and Stella Docks dedicated their B’Not Mitzvah project to raising awareness and supporting PanCAN. With the enthusiastic support of local @PanCANChicago representatives, they set out to use their special milestone to amplify the fight against pancreatic cancer. 💜
As part of their project, Margot and Stella teamed up with the @TheRealKWOE Foundation — a local organization empowering children from underserved communities — to bring awareness to pancreatic cancer at the @NHLBlackhawks’ Hockey Fights Cancer Night last month. 🏒🥅
Representing PanCAN, the Docks Family set up an information table, engaged with fans, and helped educate children from K.W.O.E. about pancreatic cancer advocacy — all while giving them the unforgettable experience of attending their first @NHL game.
Though the Blackhawks didn’t take home the win that night, Margot and Stella’s efforts were an undeniable victory. It was an inspiring evening as survivors, families and fans came together in support of the fight against pancreatic cancer.
A huge thank you to the Blackhawks, the Docks Family, and our incredible Chicago volunteers who continue driving game-changing progress for this cause. 💜💪
"NOAA is taxpayer-funded, so it is a public good – its services provide safety and security for everyone, not just those who can pay for it." CIRES' @cwiedinm and Kari Bowen explain @NOAA's role in U.S. weather forecasts in @ConversationUS ⬇️

There will be more stories like this coming out. Given how far-reaching these interruptions have been, it isn't ridiculous to assume Americans have died as a direct result of these orders.

Everyone seems to be framing Trump's freeze on federal grants as a Constitutional fight over powers of the purse & whether presidents can disregard Congressional appropriations. It is that. But also at stake is the fundamental validity of govt contracts! I see much less discussion on this... 🧵
I genuinely do not understand the logic of these tariffs. Analysis shows will raise US prices, lower US GDP. What possible strategic benefit could there be? Asking for a friend.
WSJ ed board: "President Trump will fire his first tariff salvo on Saturday against those notorious American adversaries . . . Mexico and Canada. They’ll get hit with a 25% border tax, while China, a real adversary, will endure 10%. This reminds us of the old Bernard Lewis joke that it’s risky to be America’s enemy but it can be fatal to be its friend."

*Regardless* of U.S. politics, “the shift to electric vehicles is still very much happening and we will still see growth over the next decade,” said research firm Rho Motion, a hopeful forecast amid uncertainties in the U.S. https://t.co/3SeJ3G061c
Farmers have long drained peatlands to grow crops, but the dried out soils release vast amounts of carbon dioxide.
To halt this process, Germany is not only restoring peatlands but also finding uses for the grasses, reeds, and sedges that grow on them.

Batteries start playing a huge role in energy systems around the world.
Look at California - not long ago you wouldn’t even be able to see the contribution from batteries.
Today batteries can provide more than 20% of peak load in California.
The military did not enter California. The federal government restarted federal water pumps after they were offline for maintenance for three days. State water supplies in Southern California remain plentiful.
Cancer research halted by the administration. How is this possibly helping Americans? This is a critical time for cancer research. Progress matters to save lives.
This is terrible management from an administration who is supposedly business savvy. Will undercut progress of American research, life-saving discoveries and repairs to critical infrastructure. Among so many other things. https://t.co/QGT7erQxtQ
As legislators representing Greenland in Denmark and the United States, we see a better path forward. The future will be defined by partnership, not ownership. To ensure our alliance reaches its full potential, Americans must view Greenland as an ally, not an asset.
