A5: ICs need to create a safe environment for Ts to try projects & tasks. When we ask Ts to step out of their comfort zone, we need to make sure we have our learner hats on & not our judger hats. ICs, Ts & students need to have a growth mindset for AL to happen #ICLCsummerextra
A4: The checklists in Ch 8 look like a valuable resource for Ts & ICs to use to help successfully implement cooperative learning strategies. Again, modeling, collecting and reviewing video recordings are useful tools. data#ICLCsummerextra
@LorriSapp My stories hit most items on the checklist. They aren’t planned ahead of time. They are usually sparked by something happening in the classroom, or I’ve told them so many times, I don’t plan them anymore. And, sometimes they aren’t humble. That’s something I need to work on. :-(
A3: As a teacher, I tell little stories that seem to engage my kids. I think it makes the classroom more fun and builds a good culture. As an IC, I can work with Ts to think of stories & build a bank of stories to share & collect data on engagement during stories #ICLCsummerextra
A2: Getting a clear picture of reality by video recording a teacher’s use of effective questioning, reviewing the video together, setting goals to improve EQ, collecting data, & video recording again has been an impactful way to improve the use of EQing.

A1: ICs can help teachers feel more comfortable using thinking prompts by working together at establishing respectful norms, finding the right kinds of prompts to use, building a bank of prompts, and supporting teachers when they implement prompts. #ICLCsummerextra
A3: We can partner with Ts to get a clear picture of reality, set goals, identify strategies to meet goals, provide support til goals are met. Support should be guided by: equality, choice, voice, dialogue, reflection, praxis, reciprocity

A2: Assessment of learning is at the end of the learning cycle. Assessment for learning is more formative because it’s done throughout the learning cycle which facilitates adjustments to the lessons as needed.

A1: I would enter the conversation as an equal partner and ask the teacher to reflect on the planning of the unit or lesson. I would ask them how they thought it was going and what they could do to improve the planning.
