The Virginia Solicitor General’s Office is hiring a fellow for a 1-year fellowship starting August. Fellows draft briefs, argue cases, & advise on litigation under SG’s direction. Great opportunity for recent grads/clerks interested in appellate advocacy.

Thank you @johnpelwood for the support and for your excellent amicus brief in the Flores case (https://t.co/x7BT6x0uK1). The @UTexasLaw SCOTUS Litigation Clinic is honored to work w/Penn & Teller to expose this injustice (https://t.co/XuLwBy5TgO).
Sometimes the most effective amici are the surprising ones.
Magicians Penn & Teller (with the UT Clinic) just filed an amicus brief for a Texas death-row prisoner convicted partly on “hypnotically enhanced testimony,” arguing it’s the same technique they use to trick audiences.
The @UTexasLaw#SCOTUS Clinic heard argument this morning at the Court, and Erin Busby and I had a great time last night connecting our current students with DC-based Clinic alums. What a fantastic trip!
If you’ve never listened, Bound by Oath is one of the best (if not actually the very best) long-form legal podcasts ever made.
And it’s still being made and still just as good as it always has been!
Give it a try.
After recapping a busy week of #SCOTUS news, today's "One First" takes a deep dive into our new cert. petition challenging the constitutionality of the "short-martial"—the mandatory bench trials that Congress provided for servicemembers starting in 2019:

I'm indebted to my co-counsel—the superstar Megan Marinos from the Navy Appellate Defense Division; and my former colleagues at the @UTexasLaw Supreme Court Clinic—and to two of my @GeorgetownLaw research assistants, Ricky Coyne and Alyssa Negvesky, for their invaluable help!
We're looking for a few good clerks! If you're interested in joining us as an associate next fall after completing a clerkship, please apply through the @PaulWeissLLP website (link below):

We have a cool new webpage for @IJ's Project on Immunity & Accountability. Launched just 5 years ago to combat doctrines like #QualifiedImmunity and #FederalImmunity, IJ's already litigated dozens of cases across the U.S., incl. 3 at #SCOTUS.

The @UTexasLaw#SCOTUS Clinic had a great visit to the Court today to hear oral argument. Such a pleasure getting to share this experience with our fantastic students.

p.s. We're heading to DC next week to bring current @UTexasLaw#SCOTUS Clinic students to hear oral argument at the Court and connect with DC Clinic alums. Can't wait!
So great to hear from @UTexasLaw#SCOTUS Clinic alums about ways they've built on skills learned in the Clinic for appellate & trial practices re public interest, BigLaw, boutiques & government work. And many thanks for the kind words from advocates we've mooted!
