Felicia Hilton of Des Moines went off.
"Bob Vanderplaats, I don't even know who that is; he threatened judges and now all of a sudden you guys are going to sign this at his church celebration? Where was he when Kim Reynolds was saying she wasn't going to feed kids anymore?"
Pale Blue Dot is a photo of Earth that was taken by the Voyager 1 space probe in 1990 from a distance of about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) as it was leaving our solar system. This is what Carl Sagan said about the photo:
"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor, and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every 'superstar,' every 'supreme leader,' every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”
If you haven't heard about "Joaquin's First School Shooting" I urge you to please watch the video below.
This book was written by a woman named Patricia Oliver. Oliver lost her 17-year-old son Joaquin Oliver in the Parkland Florida school shooting in 2018.
Joaquin had told his parents before his passing that he wanted to make a difference in the world. His story can make that difference.
We need to get together as a nation, to at least try and do something to stop what's happening. We can work together and come up with solutions which do not abridge the Second Amendment, but also don't allow our young children to continue to be put in harms way because of a lack of willingness to compromise.
Also, please follow Patricia's Twitter account here: @ChangeTheRef.

On latest natl history assessment, “just 13% of eighth graders were considered proficient — demonstrating competency over challenging subject matter — down from 18% nearly a decade ago.”
Which will hamstring students’ literacy, as well.

“Even the most content-rich English language arts curriculum cannot substitute for strong science and social studies instruction—and such instruction can help build literacy skills.”
THIS is the man who was just arrested for child sex crimes. Was he in drag reading in libraries?
No. Surprise, surprise, he was a YOUTH PASTOR. For a church. In Texas.
But was he the only pastor in America arrested recently for this charge? No. Not even close.
There have been two more cases. In just the last week alone. In the SAME COUNTY.
I'm sure now Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis and every other Republican will completely shift their focus to banning right-wing Christians from going anywhere near kids.
Because clearly they should leave those of us in the LGBT+ community alone.
The @IowaGOP's war on public education and teachers continues full force with a ridiculous bill to fine folks for talking about "divisive" topics in school.
Iowa Republicans are incompetent, ignorant, and full of crap.

Not-so fun facts about the miserly 2% proposed increase for public schools.
It’s not enough. But here’s how that going to play out for our community schools:
@IAGovernor We do owe it to our children- ALL our children- that’s why I want MY public tax dollars to go towards PUBLIC schools and not towards private schools that can discriminate against children with disabilities. Also, the whole handout to the rich is crap. 💩
I just took a survey sponsored by @iowasenate! You can take the survey and make you voice heard about private school vouchers here: https://t.co/n1orbVFhFa
