The Ford government's $750 classroom gift card gimmick was insulting and admits that our schools are underfunded.
Asking teachers to buy classroom supplies is like asking nurses to shop for medical supplies before work because the hospital can't provide them.
Now we learn that $300 of the promised $750 isn't even new funding - it's being taken from existing education dollars. That's not an investment in public education. It's a shell game.
Ontario students and educators deserve properly funded classrooms, not government announcements that sound bigger than they really are. #onpoli #onted

Teacher presidents from across Canada met to discuss the alarming actions of governments using the Notwithstanding Clause to override constitutionally protected rights to freedom of association, collective bargaining, and strike action. This heavy handed action is undemocratic and we will fight back! Listen to watch @ETFOpresident had to say to Ontario’s Premier and Minister of Education #onted #canlab
Doug Ford just gave a $300 million loan to a private equity fund run by a weed entrepreneur. to buy up unsold condos, bail out developers, and keep housing unaffordable
Doug Ford uses his phone for government business. The courts ordered him to release his phone records – so now he’s changing the law so he never has to.
What is Doug Ford hiding?
This is so shady. Why the rush, @fordnation? What are you hiding?
We got him to sell the Gravy Plane and we can work together to stop this too. C’mon Ontario, do your thing! #onpoli
BREAKING: The Ford government just voted to fast-track a law that would permanently shield Doug Ford’s phone records from the public, keeping you in the dark about how your tax dollars are being used.
Watch this video where I break it down.
@jackhandey71@MicaR@GailVazOxlade Actually, what I said was rooted in educational and behavioural science and also years of personal experience. Look up the work of Dr. Stuart Ablon, for one. I don’t disagree that for some rules and structure might help. But know that more needs to be done to help the others.
@MVanevery3@MicaR@GailVazOxlade I wish it were that simple. We need to get them the support they need now so that they can learn strategies to help them overcome their issues so that they can be successful adults.
@jackhandey71@MicaR@GailVazOxlade In most cases this isn’t true. Kids will do well when they can; when they aren’t, it’s because something is getting in their way. Anxiety, family responsibilities, bullying, some other form of neurodivergence- they can’t put a policy like this in place without adding supports.

Across the province this Saturday, March 28 there are ‘Fight Ford’ protests planned in dozens of Ontario communities. One organizer said, rallies are happening because residents are “tired of his policies that ignore the input of experts and thousands of diverse citizens.” Locations are below. #onpoli https://t.co/yty3ALBXP2 via @InsideHalton
@CHCHNews I wish the headlines gave a clearer picture of what this actually is and examine how little this will actually buy, especially when you consider necessities like paper towel must come out of it. Teaching for over 20 years - never bought that out of my own pocket. #onpoli
