Gainesville, Georgia — Todd Alexander Stalcup, 52, is accused of opening fire during a dog walk at Simpson Park after a fight between dogs escalated. Investigators say 70-year-old Terry Loden stepped in to protect his dog, Jesse, when shots rang out—killing Jesse at the scene and fatally wounding Terry. He later died at the hospital. A grand jury indicted Stalcup on March 11, 2026, and he entered a not guilty plea on March 17. He now faces charges including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and firearm offenses, with trial scheduled for August 24, 2026.
