#ThoughtForTheDay Stay connected. The job of an educator can be all consuming. By reconnecting w/mentors, former co-workers & current colleagues, you will gain a greater appreciation for the work that you're doing & recognize how much you have grown over time. #LiveYourExcellence
I am convinced that one of the most important things a staff member can do to contribute to a strong culture is to be excited about their job.
This does not require skill, experience, or innovation. But it does require heart.
RTQ6: What advice would you give new teachers entering the profession for the first time in the upcoming 2020-2021 school year? What are two ways in which you can support the new folks at your school? #leadupchat
"In times of stress, the best thing we can do for each other is to listen with our ears and our hearts and to be assured that our questions are just as important as our answers."
#ThoughtForTheDay No matter how many times we tell students we care about them, it will never be enough unless we show them. Actions speak louder than words. #Culturize
Students often have talents they don’t even realize and we have to help them identify and cultivate them. And help them build the confidence to use those talents to ultimately succeed.
Student success is more likely when Teachers:
1) build intentional relationships
2) focus on high expectations
3) help develop their talents ( gives them worth/success)
4) challenge students, after they experience success
5) encourage them
6) connect w/ their interests
“All we’re ever asked to do in this life is to treat our neighbor—especially our neighbor who is in need—exactly as we would hope to be treated ourselves. That’s our ultimate responsibility.”
#ThoughtForTheDay I often hear staff talk about how they are like a family. Yet, they don’t know the names of every staff member. “Do you know the name of every teacher, para, secretary, custodian, counselor, kitchen staff, etc. in your school?” Never too late 2 start. #Culturize
Hand shakes, embraces and hugs really matter, but in the age of COVID 19 with no vaccines, we need to adapt. When I see you, I will greet you one of two ways as you see in the pics...same "love" but keeping each other healthy.
