Dos caminos hacia la Unión: el dilema jurídico-político de Venezuela como eventual “Estado 51”

La discusión sobre Venezuela como posible “Estado 51” de Estados Unidos ha dejado de ser solamente una provocación política o una metáfora mediática. Detrás de esa narrativa existen precedentes históricos, doctrinas constitucionales y modelos jurídicos que ayudan a entender cómo Washington ha expandido históricamente su soberanía.

La imagen resume dos rutas posibles:

Ruta A: Admisión Directa desde un “país soberano”

Este camino implicaría que Venezuela permanezca formalmente como un Estado soberano mientras solicita voluntariamente su incorporación a la Unión Americana.

Bajo este modelo:
•Venezuela debería renunciar explícitamente a su soberanía nacional.
•Tendría que existir una solicitud formal de admisión.
•El Congreso de Estados Unidos diseñaría un proceso de transición institucional.
•Finalmente, el Congreso aprobaría la admisión como nuevo estado federal.

Esta vía tiene pocos precedentes históricos. El caso más cercano fue Texas en 1845, cuando pasó de ser una república independiente a integrarse a Estados Unidos.

Sin embargo, este camino enfrenta enormes obstáculos:
•problemas de legitimidad nacional,
•resistencia política interna,
•conflictos constitucionales,
•y dudas sobre cómo integrar un país completo con estructuras jurídicas, militares y económicas propias.

En términos políticos, sería la opción más traumática y simbólicamente más radical.

Ruta B: Conversión previa en territorio bajo soberanía estadounidense

La segunda vía sigue el patrón histórico utilizado por Estados Unidos en múltiples expansiones territoriales.

Aquí, Venezuela primero se transformaría en un territorio administrado o supervisado por Estados Unidos antes de convertirse eventualmente en estado federal.

Este modelo se basa en precedentes como:
•Puerto Rico,
•Alaska,
•Hawái,
•Nuevo México,
•o Filipinas bajo administración territorial.

En este esquema:
•Estados Unidos asumiría control gradual sobre áreas estratégicas,
•se instalaría una estructura administrativa tutelada,
•y posteriormente el Congreso decidiría si existe capacidad para una incorporación plena.

La doctrina jurídica detrás de esta ruta proviene de los llamados Insular Cases y de la idea del “territorio incorporado” desarrollada por la Corte Suprema de EE.UU. a comienzos del siglo XX.

El rol central del Congreso

En ambos caminos, el actor decisivo no sería la Casa Blanca sino el Congreso de Estados Unidos.

La Constitución estadounidense otorga al Congreso:
•la facultad de admitir nuevos estados,
•administrar territorios,
•y definir las condiciones políticas y legales de integración.

Por eso, cualquier escenario de “Estado 51” dependería más de una decisión estratégica de Washington que de una simple declaración presidencial.

¿Qué revela este debate?

Más allá de si ocurre o no, esta discusión refleja algo más profundo:
•el regreso de una lógica geopolítica expansionista en Estados Unidos,
•la reaparición de doctrinas asociadas a William McKinley y la expansión territorial,
•y la creciente importancia de Venezuela dentro de la seguridad energética y estratégica hemisférica.

En otras palabras, el debate sobre el “Estado 51” no habla solamente de Venezuela.
Habla de cómo Estados Unidos redefine su papel imperial, energético y geopolítico en el siglo XXI.

“Mel Gibson warned actor Jim Caviezel that playing the character of Christ was going to be very difficult and that if he accepted, he most likely would be marginalized by Hollywood.

Caviezel asked for a day to think about it and his response to Mel who was funding and directing the movie was: "I think we have to make it, even if it is difficult." And something else, my initials are J.C., and I am 33 years old. "I didn't realize that until now."
Mel responded with “You're really scaring me you know.”

During filming, Jim Caviezel who plays the part of Jesus lost 45 pounds, he was struck by lightning, he was accidentally struck twice during the scourging scene leaving a deep 14-inch scar, he dislocated his shoulder when the cross was dropped into the hole with him on the cross. He then suffered pneumonia and hypothermia from being nearly naked with only a loin cloth on the cross for endless hours. The crucifixion scene alone took 5 weeks of the 2 months of shooting.

His body was so stressed and exhausted from playing the role that he had to undergo two open heart surgeries after the filming production.

Jim explained, “I didn’t want people to see me. I just want them to see Jesus. Conversions will happen through that.”

Almost like a clairvoyant prediction many amazing things happened.

Pedro Sarubbi, who played Barabbas, felt that it was not Caviezel who was looking at him, but Jesus Christ himself, as he played that role he said of Caviezel, “His eyes had no hatred or resentment towards me, only mercy and love."

Luca Lionello, the artist who played Judas, was an avowed atheist before shooting began. He eventually converted, and baptized his children.

One of the main technicians working on the film was a Muslim converted to Christianity.

Some producers said they saw actors dressed in white they didn’t recognize during one of the filming sessions, and when they reviewed the recordings they realized they couldn’t see them in that footage.

The Passion of the Christ is the highest grossing US religious as well as the highest R-rated film of all time, with $370.8 million! Worldwide, it grossed $611 million.

More importantly, it has reached 100’s of millions of people around the world.

Mel Gibson paid $30 million out of his own pocket for the production of the film because no studio would take on the project.

Today Jim Caviezel simply and boldly proclaims his faith in Christ, and the miracle it was for him to represent Christ as an actor and a greater believer of Christ because of this experience.

In 1986, the American Medical Association published an article titled "The Physical Death of Jesus Christ". It details the entire process of Jesus' trial to His death on the cross.

In Luke 22, before Jesus is arrested, it is written that He was in great distress & sweating blood. Although rare, it is recognized as Hematidrosis, a condition caused by high levels of stress.

At the time, the crucifixion was considered the worst death for the worst of criminals. But this is not all Jesus faced. He endured whipping so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. He was beaten so horribly that His face was torn & His beard ripped.

A crown of thorns, 2-3 inches long cut deeply into His scalp. The leather whip used to flog Him had tiny iron balls & sharp bones. The balls caused internal injuries while the sharp bones ripped open His flesh. His skeletal muscles, veins, & bowels are exposed, causing major blood loss. Most men do not survive this kind of torture. After Jesus was severely flogged, He was forced to carry His cross while people mocked & spat on Him.

Crucifixion was a process meant to instill excruciating pain, creating a slow & agonizing death. Nails as long as 8 inches were driven into Jesus' wrists & feet. The Roman soldiers knew the tendons in the wrists would tear & break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support Himself to breathe. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the courage...Jesus endured this reality for 3 hours!

The Gospel of John writes that after Jesus' death, a Roman soldier pierced His side with a spear & blood & water came out. Scientists explain that from hypovolemic shock, the rapid heart rate causes fluid to gather in the sack around the lungs & heart. The accumulation of fluid in the membrane around the heart is called a Pericardial effusion & the lungs is called a pleural effusion.

To the world, Christianity is as foolish as it can get. They believe it's for the weak. But when you are confronted by the reality of the cross, it's clearly not a pretty sight. It is brutal & horrific.

This is the weight Jesus carried. The weight of the sins of the world, all so that we can live. God's wrath is fully satisfied in Jesus. This is what it took. Repent & believe! Jesus is “God among us” in the flesh. Jesus is our Savior. Jesus loves you so much that He went through this spiritual and physical punishment for your sins and mine.

Jesus is the LORD, Almighty God, Everlasting Father.
