A5: Telling our stories! Getting the good news out there to our legislators. They are making decisions based on what they think they know. We need to plan the narrative. #vaespchat
A4: Research supports mentoring. Administration is lonely and hard, you need a team to help support. As a previous professor, this was something we offered to our students (and divisions) after graduation. Formalized and supported would be great#vaespchat
A3: Funding to help aspiring teachers move from provisional to fully licensed. Cohorts in VA to do the coursework together. Less negative talk about educators and our schools - celebrate successes! #vaespchat
A1: sometimes I have to remind myself often, but looking for the good things, being proactive to avoid some of the not so good things, and leaning on my work family to help keep me accountable for the good. #Vaespchat
@MHawley_3 A4: sometimes it is difficult because we get into the reactive mode, but focusing on what’s best for students, teachers, and safety are the top 3! #vaespchat
@MHawley_3 A3: Our goal is to make sure we keep community as the overarching goal. We have had several community events- block party, lunch on the lawn for all, literacy nights, etc. Specifically for me, better work/life balance so I don’t get burned out #vaespchat
@DrChrisCulver@MHawley_3 Thanks - so much of ours is trauma which creates difficulties when the students are young and don’t know how to regulate. It’s throughout the country I know, but boy is it difficult in the moment !
@MHawley_3 A1 - agree with finding people that can help with support. Not only fellow principals, but central office support as well! Also know your division’s policies - always check there before answering questions or solving problems.
