The appointment of the high-level committee led by ACS Jal Shakti Sh. @ShaleenKabra Ji with the @Divcomjammu and @igp_jammu as members, comes in the wake of the sad #ArdhkuwariLandslideTragedy This shows Lt. Governor's understanding of the holistic view of governance. It also shows concern for the people by putting in place systems and institutions to prevent any eventuality. This goes beyond simple governance and shows statesmanship which accompanies accountability, empathy and deep foresight.
The LGs mandates to the committee to assess and respond effectively while developing new Standard Operating Procedures shows a commitment to transform the learning and the failure of the incident into an institutional learning. This in itself demonstrates a unique leadership trait which exemplifies the philosophy of strengthening systems and preserving lives in a region which rare.
Such actions elevate governance from being reactive to truly preventive and transformative. It assures every pilgrim and citizen that their safety, dignity, and faith stand at the centre of administrative priorities. This is governance with vision, compassion, and resolve , a leadership that does not merely manage crises but builds safeguards for generations to come.

Indian Army chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi today commended Major Bachwala Rohit for demonstrating exceptional professional acumen and selfless commitment beyond the call of duty.
On 5 July 2025, while proceeding on leave from Military Hospital Jhansi to his hometown of Hyderabad, he was involved in a critical medical intervention that exemplified the highest standards of military service. At Jhansi Railway Station, he noticed a woman in visible distress near the lift area. She had fallen from a wheelchair and was in advanced labour. Major Rohit’s swift and decisive action, under non-clinical and resource-constrained circumstances, is a testament to his medical proficiency, composure under pressure, and unwavering commitment to the ethos of the Armed Forces: Indian Army.

#WATCH | Army Medical Officer, Major Bachwala Rohit helps woman deliver a baby at Jhansi Railway Station in UP; Army chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi today commended the Major for demonstrating exceptional professional acumen and selfless commitment beyond the call of duty.
Major Bachwala Rohit says, "...I told the lady that you don't need to worry. I'm a medical officer, and nothing will happen to you or the child. And at that point in time, I realised that she could not be evacuated from that point. So I had planned that I would deliver her right away at that same place in that incident. And I had looked for certain items... I had assisted in delivering the baby safely, and soon after that, with the help of the pocket knife and the hair clips, I had separated the umbilical cord. The baby was not responsive at first, but with my clinical skills, I tried to resuscitate her, and then she even responded, and I really felt very happy about that... The mother was very, very happy. The baby started crying, and it was all god's grace that I felt that the mother and baby were absolutely stable and fine. I have a special thank you for the railway staff who helped me with what I wanted at that point in time, and also they maintained the privacy of the individual..."

#WATCH | Delhi | DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai says "...My communication with the Pak DGMO was conducted at 15:35 hrs yesterday and resulted in cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by either side with effect from 17:00 hrs, 10th of May, after he proposed that we cease hostilities. We also decided to further speak on the 12th of May at 12:00 hrs to discuss the modalities that would enable the longevity of this understanding. However, disappointingly, expectedly it took only a couple of hours for Pakistan Army to violate these arrangements by cross border and across Line of Control firing followed by drone intrusions through last night and in the early hours of today. These violations were responded to robustly...We have earlier today sent another hotline message to my counterpart highlighting these violations of the understanding between the DGMOs on 10th of May and our firm and clear intent to respond to these fiercely if repeated tonight, subsequently or later...The Chief of Army Staff has granted full authority to our army commander for counteraction in case of any violation by Pakistan..."

The recent tragic incidents in Kashmir—#MakhanDin’s death in #kathua, #WasimMalla’s killing in #Baramulla, and the brutal murder of ex-serviceman #ManzoorWagey in #Kulgam—have understandably triggered deep emotions across the region. Politically charged statements and targeted narratives on social media have further fueled public outrage.
While anger is justified, it must not blind us to the larger realities at play. A single individual's actions—no matter how heinous—do not implicate an entire system. #Justice must be ensured, and accountability must be transparent. Authorities must take cognizance of these events, conduct fair investigations, and punish the guilty, so that trust in institutions is strengthened, not eroded. But in our demand for justice, we must not let ourselves become pawns in a larger game.
It is no coincidence that certain elements—both within and outside—are now amplifying narratives designed to #provoke, #destabilize, and #divide. #BannedIndividuals are resurfacing, and new accounts are pushing #anti-#India rhetoric, exploiting Kashmiri sentiments for their own agenda. The same forces that once radicalized our youth are now trying to push them towards chaos again.
We must ask ourselves: Do we let our emotions be weaponized by those who never stood with us in our struggles? Or do we respond with wisdom, patience, and strategy? Our fight has always been for dignity, justice, and progress. Let’s not let one moment of misplaced anger set us back.
Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done. Institutions must act, and we, as a people, must respond with intellect—not instinct. Rash reactions only serve those who wish to keep Kashmir in turmoil. The real revolution is in restraint. The real power is in wisdom. And the real victory is in maintaining the peace that has come at such a great cost.
Let’s not undo years of progress with one emotional misstep. Let’s seek justice, but let’s seek it the right way.
