It's impossible to be a social media manager. We're great at what we do, and yet we still don't feel good enough to take up space in the industry. Like, we have to always be extraordinary, but somehow we're always doing it wrong.
You're expected to be creative, but you're not a graphic designer. You're expected to engage your audience and grow a community, but only push sales posts. You're expected to be a jack-of-all-trades, not a master of social media. You're expected to do the jobs of five people, but only get paid for one.
You have to answer for bad engagement rates or low conversions because you don't have any creative control - which is insane. You're expected to be funny, but not too unhinged because then you'll get accused of being an intern, or not doing "real" social media work. All because you made a meme.
But you need to always stand out and always be creative, making the next reactive and disrupting piece of social marketing. You have to be working at the same level as other companies who have entire social teams, never be too stressed, always act like you're having the best time and never complain about your work because... "It's easy". And it's contradictory, nobody gives you a medal or says thank you! And it turns out in fact that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also everything is your fault.
I'm just so tired of watching myself and every single other social media manager tie themselves into knots so that people will take us seriously.
January is not the month for starting a new life, sorry. Youโre thinking of April or September. January is a Sunday afternoon. It is for sleeping in, making cinnamon rolls, having sex and reading bad fiction books. Any work you get done this month is a bonus. Youโre welcome.
My brother and I have a running game of phone tag where we accidentally call each other at the least convenient time and leave voicemails saying โtag youโre it, call me back! Love ya!โ

sorry in advance for every work & life thing Iโm behind on this week, itโs just that none of it matters at all and Iโm losing my fucking mind
@gracieeee_131 I spent the first hour of work today sobbing on my office floor watching videos of Gunnar so I feel that. I wish I could take bereavement leave for my dog ๐๐
Iโve been watching so much White Lotus, I had a dream last night that Jennifer Coolidge came over and demanded to stay in my home that suddenly turned into a 5 star resort.
Weโll see if she will come back for another stay tonight.
@lexieemm It works best for my daily multivitamin and melatonin. I like to take a Magnesium-LThreonate, and extra vitamin C & D3 in the winter time especially.
@lexieemm Thatโs the thing, some gummies have little nutrients so do your research first. And I would pay attention to how much sugar is added in them. So I donโt rely on them for all my supplements, just the ones that I donโt want to forget.
@lexieemm Honestly investing in a good gummy version of whatever Iโm taking is helpful. I have a sensitive stomach so the big horse pills always make me nauseous. If I donโt have a gummy I chase it with a liquid and food so it doesnโt upset my stomach as much!
