One of the best changes made by Denis, Chani in the movies is an actual complex character and is the audience surrogate (the moral compass that we relate to throughout the movie) and accomplishes what Frank Herbert was originally even trying to do with the story of warning against charismatic, religious leaders & tales. It also makes Paul’s inevitable path even that more heartbreaking. The amazing ending of part 2 literally can’t exist without Chani’s whole arc.
