The word ‘culture’ gets thrown around often in schools during meetings and PD. Ultimately, here are the only 2 things that should matter to EVERY member of a community/school district…
1. Do we ALL care about each other?
2. Do we ALL care about what we’re trying to accomplish?
Depression doesn’t always look like someone struggling to get out of bed. Sometimes it can look like someone going about their day with a smile on their face, but internally feeling like they are going to collapse.
If I throw a themed party— I’m going to hire an elementary school teacher to plan it.
When I get married— I’m going to hire an elementary school to plan the ceremony and reception.
Reason: Elementary school teachers make magic with a $50 gift card and construction paper.
As educators, sometimes the best thing we can do for a student, is engage in a conversation that has nothing to do with academics and content.
Just taking an interest in our students interests is a game changer.
Teachers, if you had an exceptionally tough week, it's not weakness to be tired, to cry, to feel like you are running on empty, or feel burned out. You're just being human.
At the end of the day, what people remember most about their education were their favorite teachers.
Those meaningful relationships and fun classroom experiences.
