My only thoughts as to why people don’t talk about it is how sprawling it is (too unwieldy?), or that it’s just TOO brutally honest and uncomfortable. There are numerous moments of beauty and even humor but I definitely don’t recommend if you don’t want to feel like shit
Started reading this a while back after reading the synopsis and thinking “why haven’t I heard of this? Sounds right up my alley.” And having finished it today I’m still perplexed as to why I hadn’t heard of it. Really fantastic and an absolutely lacerating portrait of America
When I was 15 I watched Blue Velvet on my phone (my apologies, I’m aware of the irony) in the back of a car while on a road trip, and it changed my life forever. David Lynch will always be my favorite director, and I wish him a most peaceful journey to the great beyond.
