@NeuroRebel It seems disingenuous to say “autistic advocates prefer” as I’m friends with many and never heard anyone say they prefer these terms.

@NeuroRebel I’ve never heard these terms before. In most autistic advocate circles I’m in, they prefer to talk in terms of support needs rather than masking or functioning, if a label is needed at all. I’m not really comfortable being referred to in terms of how I mask.

It's probably not because it's trendy. Rather, people often don't seek help until they're at a point of crisis, and this year has been a giant crisis

@QueerlyAutistic I don’t disagree with this at all, *however* I do feel that part of this comes from lesbians so terrified of being sexualized or their attraction being seen as for men that they actually embrace the purity narrative as a way to avoid it. It’s a complicated thing.
