Plastics4Cash, is a brilliant project designed to promote both education and environmental sustainability. But it is not enough. They still need help sponsoring 100 more children. More money is needed to purchase essential supplies such as books, pens and school bags for children
Together, we want to put pencils back into little hands. We want to put shoes on tired feet. We want to open the doors of education to children who have been standing outside for far too long.
Littafi House runs a remarkable initiative called Plastics for Cash where used plastics are collected, recycled, and converted into funds that provide school supplies for children who desperately need them.
Bold Girls Rising, is an organization I founded, because I believe that the most powerful tool of transformation is not charity, but education. For our very first project, we are partnering with Littafi House, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women and children in Nigeria.
They want to learn, but they have no notebooks to write in, no pencils to hold, no shoes to wear, no clean water to drink at school. Some stay home entirely, not because they don’t want an education, but because their families simply cannot afford even the most basic supplies.
But then, there are the other children. The forgotten ones. The children of Kaduna’s poorest communities. These are boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 14, who wake up every morning with dreams too big for their reality.
This September, two kinds of children will return to school. The first are the children of weary parents. Children whose mischief and endless energy will finally be redirected into classrooms. Their parents can rest, knowing their little ones are learning and growing in school.
Every school supply counts! Thanks to the Plastics4Cash initiative, we're supporting GSS Kujama students in need.
