Stay at home wife and mum of three. Youngest has a diagnosis of ASD with PDA traits. All five of us are on this autism journey together, learning as we go ❤️
“My brain is telling me to get up but my body is telling me not to. It’s not that I don’t want to get up, it’s that I actually can’t.” Quote from my 9yr old PDAer this morning. #PathologicalDemandAvoidance#asd
In our survey last year we asked what the greatest rewards of living with #PDA are.
The strong, loving relationship was the reward most often mentioned by parents.

“When one is well-regulated emotionally, he or she is most available for learning and engaging. In contrast, when one is emotionally dysregulated, he or she is less available for learning and engaging.”
So it seems that yesterday was too good to be true! This morning was a lot more difficult for my boy and we were late for school. Not surprising really being in a new class with a new teacher. A lot to process. #pda#autism
An unusually smooth first morning of term for us :) A very different story to this time last year! Thinking of all those who have a difficult time with going back to school.
Thanks @Gatwick_Airport for your special assistance facilities. The quiet lounge really helped as did the special lanes for security and passport control. Made a big difference to my little boy’s airport experience and helped us as a family. #autism#pda#asd
Enjoying our most successful holiday abroad in years. A lot of careful planning beforehand really helped my boy settle quickly into our villa. Gatwick airport facilities were great and made the experience fairly stress free for my boy. Happy times 😎 #autism#pda
As we go through the stress of packing for a week away I can totally relate to this post @LifeAndASC ! The amount of things we need to take to give us the best chance of a calm holiday is overwhelming!
@PippaLeeson @PDASociety Glad you had a good day :) Good luck with your trip 😊 I suspect our tricky day was down to anxiety about a large family event we are going to tomorrow 😬
It’s been one of those days. You know. Those ones where your child’s ASD takes over and you don’t get anything done, yet you haven’t stopped all day! Does that make sense?!! To other autism parents I’m sure it does 😁 #asd#autism
