@edmunds_dr If there are past papers available, get staff to try them all before writing a scheme of work. This will ensure key vocabulary is being emphasised from the start. We went from AQA to WJEC, and whilst we did rewrite booklets, we have taken some time to get used to WJEC phrases.
Medics - please help and retweet @medicsandme@MedicMentor1
International students.
I have a very disheartened year 12 student who has given up on his pursuit of medicine. He thinks the tuition fees for international students are prohibitive to him. Any help/advice I can offer?
@medicsandme@MedicMentor1@aim_uk_ Thank you both so much. I just feel so despondent on this student's behalf. I'll do a bit of digging about his home country's situation in terms of available grants.
@Hookean1 I love this. My favourite non-conventional name for equipment is from my current Year 12, who insist on calling a spirit level a "bubble meter". A much better name π .
@BPhysicswith@ChatPhysics WJEC Physics in Year 10 is horrendous. We have GCSEvexams in June of Year 10 and it is just about doable, with absolutely no time for consolidation or in class revision. No time to dwell on anything "nice". Year 11 is marginally better, thankfully.
Wow this school site is the best I have ever seen for AQA GCSE Science. So much time and effort has gone into this. Amazing stuff ππππhttps://t.co/zxszd7UIoX
A-Level Physics teachers. Recently a few on here were asking for resources for students not taking maths A-Level. Here is a very useful playlist from @dojo_learning on exponentials and logarithms, starting from basics π https://t.co/rhDDrA8dfG
@nadnosliw@Hookean1 And this was sort of my point. I can derive it from a maths point of view, but not explain it from a physics point of view. Why it is the charging process exactly 50% efficient?
@Hookean1 It's the "Why half?" question I find very difficult to answer. Why, exactly half? I can show the students mathematically, using a QV graph, but I can't explain why it's half on a physics level.
@PhysicsKeith But testing memory isn't the best way of testing intellect, in my opinion. WJEC has never gotten rid a formulae sheet, and subsequently asks some pretty testing calculation questions. No relatively easy mark for simply remembering the correct equation.
