Children are taught to identify traitors. Neighbors are urged to report one another. Officials are pressed to pledge their loyalty.
One year after it imposed a national security law, China has remade Hong Kong. This is how the city’s freedom was taken. https://t.co/zyIRIFvNad
@rteliveline@joeliveline I'n a Chinese woman living in Dublin & I no longer feel safe in the city I call home. Me and all my female Asian friends have had racial slurs shouted at when we are out alone. But it feels like we are the lucky ones as we haven't been physically harmed.
‘Do Not Split’ a short film about the Hong Kong protests, has been nominated for best short documentary at the Oscars.
#CCP🇨🇳 is trying very hard to censor it.
Regardless of whether it wins, the story of Hong Kongers must be told.
Please share the film: https://t.co/GsUcFMsleE
This is a COMPLETELY WRONG comparison. The protestors in Hong Kong are fighting for legitimate demands of democracy and freedom. They stormed into a symbol of autocracy and political persecution. I don't think you want to equate the congress in Hong Kong to the US.
😭 Lots of friends arrested today in #HK
Remember the international community (esp the UK) has legal obligations to prevent this from happening.
If we get another hand-wringing 5-eyes statement about “serious concern” I swear....
