Little Warriors go through a lot after a cancer diagnosis: endless hours in a hospital or doctor's office, constantly being poked and prodded, enduring the awful side effects of chemo & radiation, the list goes on and on.
Child Life Specialists are masters (literally!) of distraction, education, silliness, & play. They step in when parents need to step out for a breather, they know when to be honest with Warriors, & they know how to make this horrible experience for families a little bit better.

By May, she was in remission again and ready for a bone marrow transplant! Her 1/2 brother was her match and she had her transplant on 6/22/2023. She is now 100% her brother's cells! What.....a......journey!

I made a solemn resolution to myself that I couldn't always hide from myself or else it would be too late. The second I beat cancer to a pulp, I came out to my family and friends and have been living my truest and happiest self since."
I proudly rang the bell in 2019 after overcoming my treatments on top of a large surgery which removed 3 and 1/2 rib bones, my upper right shoulder muscles, and cut a major nerve causing over 40% of my torso to remain permanently numb.
Despite such a massive change, I never let it stop me; I took physical therapy and still have nearly full motor control in my entire right arm.
On top of my cancer, I was a closeted trans girl at the time.
