Guardianship of Littlemill’s legacy is no easy task and it is one that Master Blender, Michael Henry, is entrusted with.
The last precious drops of Littlemill are expertly matured, to preserve the style and flavour of Scotland’s oldest licenced distillery
Included with this unique expression, limited to just 250 bottles, is a small piece of Littlemill history.
Dress stoppers hand carved in wood, glass, stone and slate were finely crafted from the salvaged remains of Scotland’s oldest licenced distillery, Littlemill.
In the 15th century beer was a staple drink for many Scots, with the brewery on the grounds of Auchentorlie supplying the monks of nearby Paisley Abbey.
The Buchanans however, had their eye on making something infinitely more complex and significantly more valuable…
On the 2nd of November 1773, records show that ‘Robert Muir of Littlemiln’, was granted the first ever licence to “...retail ale, beer and other excisable Liquors.”
The real story of Littlemill Distillery begins over two centuries ago. In 1750 Archibald Buchanan purchased Auchentorlie Estate just a few miles west of Loch Lomond on the banks of the River Clyde, from his brother Andrew.
And with it, a brewery called Littlemill.
At 25 years old, our first Private cellar release is our youngest whisky, but it's certainly not without character.
It took 2 master blenders to select the casks used, and the liquid has been aged in American & European Oak casks before finishing in European Oloroso Sherry Casks.
We survived 2 world wars.
We saw the discovery of electricity and the invention of the automobile.
We stood the test of time for 2 and a half centuries.
Our legacy, will endure.

Littlemill is not a ‘quick’ drink. Coming from Scotland’s oldest distillery and aged for up to 40 years, it’s a whisky that has been etched into history since 1772.
It took patience to make our whisky, so have the patience to drink it’s depth of flavours ever so slowly.
There was a time when our staff unloaded our grain by hand - it’s a taste of history. A reminder of what it takes to make a whisky of such exceptional character.
The stills of Littlemill may have fallen silent in 1994, but the legacy, and the last, precious drops live on.
