1) This weekend many cities are set to demonstrate in regards to the PCSC bill and the NABB bill. Both bills are set to disproportionately impact Black, Asian and ethnic minorities. It is crucial that the voices of these current draconian policies are heard effectively. #NAAB
Choosing schools and despite visits, chats with other parents and hours of research the fear is still there. The fear of a parent raising a Black boy. I know the system I’m letting him in to and it’s scary starting this journey. Just want him to have the right adults to imitate.
Just hoping the day I have to use the guidance in this thread as a parent never comes, but bookmarked and ready because let’s face it the odds are stacked against me.
My class learned about the Romans last year. I asked them if they had heard of any black Romans. Silence. Showed them this. Discussed. Absolute mic drop. Have researched it lots since seeing it yesterday & sent on to the year 4 team. We need to overhaul our curriculum in the U.K.
@jacquiburnett4@JJyabbas@DionneGrant@AlisonHammond Never. We stand on the shoulders of the ones who have come before and carry that baton as we ask for more. More Black History, more recognition of our contributions, more inclusion of our joy. Everyday of the academic year.

Have just started reading The End Of Bias by @jessnordell and journaling alongside in my @DrIbram Be Anti Racist journal
We stay learning and unlearning over here 💁🏽♀️
There is a massive gap in adult knowledge in this area because ultimately our education system continues to avoid explicitly teaching about race.
Anti Racist practice can no longer be seen as an optional extra, it must be embedded in our curriculums.

A reminder that all children become victims of a system ill equipped to teach Anti Racism. None of us benefit when teaching a life skill is ignored in education.
Black folk who grew up in the UK, when is your first memory of being treated 'differently' in a social or public space cos of the colour of your skin? For me, it was age 4, 2nd day of primary school, 'toy time'. Pls RT, it's for a project I'm working on. I might DM you. Thanks 🙏🏾
As we slowed down over the holidays I really noticed how much we rely on stories in our parenting. We use ‘just like…’ so much.
Reminds me how important it is to ensure our children have access to the right books, they are such an important part of parenting and education.
