This also means that the state has so far only paid contractors less than half of what they owe them
Florida has spent $421 million on immigration related contracts, state spending records show.
Doodie Calls has been paid $94 million. They’re owed a total of $219 million
Earlier version of this post said Doodie Calls is owed a total of $253 million for the detention center work, but that’s not accurate.
The detention center contracts totaled at least $219 million, but additional contracts for other activities total another $35 million
Paralyzed from the neck down, Jake Rogers told his mother of a vision: there was a version of him that was still physically healthy, still studying abroad to become a doctor, still hiking mountains and sailing the seas.
And then he willed it into existence
But tragedy struck last week.
RIP, Jake. You were so young

DeSantis won’t say how much he’s spent to carry out his vision for state-run immigration detention centers, but his office has signed at least 55 contracts worth $1 billion over the past year for the effort, a @MiamiHerald analysis found.

In October, they estimated a $1.065 billion price tag for Alligator Alcatraz alone by June 30, 2026.
They didn’t include estimates for Deportation Depot
These numbers look like Florida can expect at least $1 billion spent by the end of the month

#StPetersburg based Democratic state Rep @LindsayCrossFL says she won't run for re-election this year, saying "after much thought and prayer, I have made the difficult decision to not run for re-election during the 2026 election cycle."
In his debut campaign stop as UF’s lone presidential finalist, Stuart Bell spent Wednesday trying to answer the question that doomed his predecessor: Can he satisfy Florida's increasingly powerful conservative higher education movement?

Met with @realDonaldTrump yesterday and presented him with a model of the Blue Angels F/A-18 Super Hornet airplane (a symbol of Northwest, FL).
We talked everything CD-1 related AND I got to bring my boys too. They could’ve talked sports for hours!
Thank you, President Trump!

“Ron’s good. He’s a friend of mine. He just named an airport after me.
“They named the Palm Beach International Airport the Donald J. Trump International Airport.”
New from me: He swiped right. She was recording everything.
In December 2024, Rob Field, then a top aide to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey, met a woman on Bumble. Over five months of texting, dates and calls, he came to believe that the woman who identified herself as Leah Andrews might be his “forever person.”
But just over five months after they first met, surreptitiously recorded videos of their dates and calls were posted online by conservative influencer Steven Crowder. And “Leah” was not a progressive nurse. A lawsuit filed this week identifies her as a Florida woman named Alysia Gamble.
According to public records and online videos, Gamble — who is married with kids — was a former QAnon organizer.

For the illiterate and perhaps those too stupid to count, one who graduates middle school in 2016 is not 28 🤡
Although the point of my tweet was never her age (contrary to a shocking amount of self-proclaimed geniuses on here)

For the doubters: I obtained the marriage license application for Mr. and Mrs. Fishback (formerly Quimby-Moro, age 24), which affirms they applied for their license May 20 and received marriage counseling.
This is obviously sarcasm, but it’s a tragic sign of the times that some are mad that I didn’t mindlessly date my wife for 5 years before getting married.
We grew not too far from each other. We dated for several months, got engaged, and then married at my Catholic Church.
