Let me give you an experience I had for context:
Some time back, I was seeing someone who is in - relatively - the upper echelon of public service. She had an interview for a new job. We are driving - a few days to the interview - & she receives a call.
In your 20s you’ll party with your girlfriend. You’ll go places. You’ll post more photos together than any sentence with sense. You’ll announce “We’ve made it… Life is Good”. You’ll hope from bar to bar till morning. You changed your name from Sserubende to Salvado.
You only remember your brothers, sisters and parents at memorial gatherings when you arrive in a loud gun-shots Subaru. You changed ever since you got a Degree and a girlfriend with exaggerated artificial enhancements on her rear, hips and chest.
When both of you turn 30, she'll leave you and go with someone who has a sure future. Women are not stupid. If you choose to be stupid in your 20s, you’ll die in your own movie. She’ll choose another movie script and still get a Grammy award. They’ll tag along and chew whatever there’s on the menu in your 20s.
At 30s, she will go with someone with a Title, someone respected in society; someone with responsibilities in the community; someone doing real sports like golf, tennis, football not Ludo and pool table. She’ll go with someone whose social circles are worth mentioning to her parents like Golf Club, Investment Club of Entebbe, not Subaru Drivers Association.
You wasted your 20s hugging a leech. Leeches don’t cling onto dead bodies. Leeches don’t look for you. It’s you who goes to where they are found and they latch onto you.
You’ll complain that women are materialistic but realistically, you have no vision, no sense of direction, no friends with value, zero social responsibility. You just have a beat-up Subaru with fading tattoos, reducing biceps, and a bulging tummy.
Reminder:
Be in the right circles. Spend more time with more mature people with good exposure and repute. There is more silent competition among age-mates; they'll choke your growth. Don't blame your poverty on your parents. Think for yourself while still in your 20s.
I took Maama Janet for a walk at our home in Rwakitura before we left for Kampala. Even after she defeated Corona, it is good for her to take walks, especially uphill, which boosts oxygen circulation in the body.
