In late 2018, the Live Healthy Franklin County coalition conducted a survey to examine the perceptions of Franklin County community members about the issues of healthy eating, active living, and tobacco-free living. The survey was part of the @BCBSKS Pathways grant!
Do you know what organizations make up the Franklin County Food Policy Council? Current areas represented: Franklin County Health Department, Wellsville, , Ottawa , ECKAN, USD 290, Richmond, Farm Bureau Association, Lake Region RC&D, KSU Frontier Extension District, United Way.
Did you know that Franklin County has a Food Policy Council? This group began from the county commissioners in 2013. It provides ideas, advice, and support to adoption of food policies that positively impact the health of community members.
Additionally, over the past several days, numerous wastewater systems have experienced bypasses of sewage that enter local streams.
Individuals are advised to avoid contact with waterways & restrict pets and livestock from entering streams and allow flood waters time to recede.
In addition to the physical dangers associated with entering swift moving flood waters, the potential for high levels of pathogens in those waters exist. KDHE anticipates elevated levels of pathogens in rivers and streams across the state because of runoff.
Stay out of flood waters. They often contain harmful chemicals, disease causing organisms and other pollutants. Is your tetanus shot up to date? Call the health department for information 785-229-3530
