This idea of what club does my kid play for, or need to play for, has started so young… and is exactly the problem @landondonovan and his former @USMNT teammates have discussed as *whats wrong with US Youth Soccer*

So true! In our area, Central and South Texas, HS aged players and their families have become so entrenched in what club they play for and what league that club competes in, that school soccer almost gets ignored or pushed to the wayside.
