Send a letter to your MP. If you get a stock inadequate response, chase them up on it. They are elected by us to raise our concerns, not dismiss them. They should respond within 2 weeks - if they don’t send them another email!! #LiveableNHSBursary https://t.co/mgacdD6rvF
Great start by Prof Sir Van Tam & a great win for those fighting for a #LiveableNHSBursary
The former Deputy CMO has set an example for others to follow. If he can do it others unis can too! Funding students means more #NHS Drs!

So, @UniofNottingham has joined @UniversityLeeds in supporting its medical students in light of #LiveableNHSBursary.
To all other medical schools, why haven’t you?
Medical students and alumni: send your dean an email! Encourage them to take local action and lobby government!
I went from a max of £4500 in first year down to a max of £2400 (£1400 SFE, £1000 NHS) in my final year despite my parents finances not changing at all. Why is this okay? Why should I have had to work 20+ hours a week alongside a medicine degree just to be able to live?
Well done to @UniofNottingham for looking after its medical students!! Send this to your medical school deans - if Nottingham can, why can’t they! #LiveableNHSBursary
Proud of #LiveableNHSBursary@WPMedicsNetwork@MedicineUoN 4 this step in the right direction in the extension of Core Bursary for clinical years. Many thanks to Prof. Sir J. Van-Tam for this great start as Dean of Med Ed at Notts

@SteveBarclay Hello Steve. Did you know that many medical students across the UK staffed vaccination hubs? As a thanks, they can barely afford to reach graduation. It isn’t on. #LiveableNHSBursary
#LiveableNHSBursary
They have the money, but choose to create a two tier system for poor medical students. I can already see these students being tied to certain hospitals and £4/h does not cover living costs?? Just fund the system we've already made!
More likely to get burnout trying to make enough money over summer to continue funding med school, than I am during the academic year actually attending. And that’s something. I’m highly strung AF.
Pls I’m just tryna live
#LiveableNHSBursary
Only just received a response from my MP @jogideon regarding a #LiveableNHSBursary back in May, who simply attached a letter from Edward Argar who quit as Minister of State for Health 6 days ago. This government do not care about the NHS, or the current/future trainees within it.
Whew. Listening to this one gave me so many chills I had to re-install the Twitter app.
A real honour to hear such transparency and determination to solve the cost of living struggle that some medical student face. Especially in those crucial months before & after graduation.
Great recommendations for universities to identify & help students in financial hardship. Basically just human rights but… vital stuff. Drs starting work whilst in financial crisis ARE A PATIENT SAFETY ISSUE! #liveablenhsbursary#wpmn2022#thrivingnotsurviving
If rich students don’t have to justify their spendings, students in financial hardship shdnt be penalised /subject to only the very essential items
poverty is isolating enough w/o having no opportunities to release endorphins, meet friends, eat nice food

Infuriating that medical students are being pushed out of medicine because they can’t afford final year. The current system expect them to comfortably live in a huge financial deficit. Totally unacceptable #liveablenhsbursary@TheDA_UK#retentionstartsatmedschool
