On the same day Azaraya competed at the SEC gymnastics championships, Kaia was competing at the USATF Youth National Indoor Championships in New York! Kaia took home 4th place medal. Super proud of my girls. Lane 6 -Pink hair, orange suit.

Azaraya Ra-Akbar. @SEC Co-Freshman of the Year.

Ra-Akbar becomes the first @UA_Athletics gymnast to earn Freshman of the Year honors since Andreé Pickens in 1999 and is the fourth freshman overall to receive the recognition!

@katiewindham_ She was hungry! Prior to going to Alabama she had not competed bars or Vault since 2023! Floor and Beam since 2024. Went to school a year early and had an amazing season. Well deserved. We couldn’t be more proud!

[Marcia Ra-Akbar @Liveyourbestyou]

Azaraya Ra-Akbar had not competed
VT/UB since 2023 or FX/BB since Feb 2024!

Went to Bama a year early & Rehabbed her ankle.

In her college AA debut, scored 39.6 + earned Gymnast of the Week.

She ends the SEC season ranked on 3 events! Aza is a beast & I’m her proud mama.
