Zimbabwe's🇿🇼 “constitutionalist” President Emmerson Mnangagwa has previously insisted he has no interest in clinging to power nor extending the tenure of his office. But he's now pushing for a prolonged stay till 2030, and doesn't want Zimbabweans to directly vote for a President.
Speaking to @SkyNews 7years ago, Mnangagwa insisted he won't change the constitution and won't "go beyond second term."
And before parliament On Sept 18, 2018, he also said this:
"We can stand proud as a nation that our democracy has matured. Let us continue on the onerous journey we have begun to entrench constitutionalism, and democratic practices and values."
