@MaoZhou @Variety Quitting unapologetic transphobes like JKR in disgust isn't the same as keeping new writers out of the market who hire sensitivity readers/try to avoid errors. Errors are places for debate and discussion, not shutting them down before anyone can even read them.
@MaoZhou @Variety Absolutely true. When people are abusive with their art, I have no problem with using the market to shut them down. The debate comes in when people, for example, try to avoid mistakes and make them anyway, or when people are shut down before anyone can read their work. (1/2)
@Variety It seems like some folks use powerful platforms to push dark agendas and deserve the world's pushback -- but also that less powerful authors might be cancelled rather than being published, without most people's even being able to evaluate their work. The latter is problematic.
@Variety I think there's fruit for decent debate here. On the one hand, JKR has barely lampshaded comments that attack trans people from a powerful platform and deserves economic blowback. On the other hand, what about authors like these? https://t.co/ykt10KxKfk
@realDonaldTrump@FoxNews Wow. It's not enough that they are going to insist that every election where a Democrat wins from now on is fraudulent. They're already starting to do it retroactively! At least "liberal snowflake" candidates don't throw months-long tantrums when they lose.
Doing a daily grateful-for to help me counteract 2020. Items listed daily are in no particular order.
Today, I am grateful for: DOGS. They make us laugh. They let us pet. They forgive us our mistakes. They love unconditionally. They bring out the good in many of us.
Dogs.
I completed like an hour and a half on a video game today. PLUS I am acquiring fitness via Ringfit Adventure. I am a gamer! I am one who games!
(My kids spluttered at this self-designation, but they know NOTHING. ๐ )
Jesus values us for existing. Humans value people according to value provided -- e.g. the young/sexy/rich are valued more highly bc people like looking at them/trying to sleep with them/selling them things.
So to love like Jesus, you love people for being. Full stop. Yes?
@capaldotraylor @EmilyMAuthor You'll know when we do. A rich neighbor deeply invested in neighborhood lawn care? A faraway relative who accidentally used our address because he sent us a gift card that one time? Someone who reused a box with an old label on it (though it seems legit)? NOBODY KNOWS.
