If I were about to be applying for grad programs/postdocs at a UC school, I would make sure potential advisors didn't just talk about DEI/supporting students but were actively, publicly supporting the strike. I would 100% ask about it in interviews #FairUCNow
Would the Supreme Court permit somebody whose student loan balance jumped ten thousand dollars today to cite their sincere religious belief in the sin of usery (Exodus 22:25–27) in refusing to make interest payments or does this exemption only apply to hating gay people?
@glia_gal Oh I had a whole long playlist but my faves:
Bastards of Young - The Replacements
This is the Day - The The
Someday Soon - Harlem
Hard Times -Paramore
30 Days in the Hole - Humble Pie
I Want to Break Free - Queen
I need a reality check her. I had a recruiter cold call me last night. They zipped into asking questions about my company so fast I misheard their name and title and thought they were a friend - a friend who is going to call for an informational interview.
@cassius_a Ross Gay really nails this for me every time. "Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude" (both the poem and the collection of poems) and "The Book of Delights" (which is a collection of essays).
Mark Cuban: Bailout Silicon Valley Bank TONIGHT
Feds: Approved
Lloyd Blankfein: Goldman Sachs needs $824 billion
Feds: Approved
Jamie Dimon: JPMorganChase needs $416 billion
Feds: Approved
Average Joe: My wife got cancer. Can we get Medicare?
Feds: We're broke.
@ivictoriaruth Ok one last thing: if you can't do one thing cause you decided something else comes first but you're stuck on step 1? It's time to skip step 1. Can't start dinner cause you think you need to do some unrelated chore first? Nope, gotta skip it. Eating >>>> vacuuming your bedroom.
@ivictoriaruth Better to follow your instincts than do whatever thing you think you're supposed to. For example- if you throw your keys on the table instead of hanging them on the cute key hanger near the door - sorry buddy, your keys are supposed to be on the table.
Twitter! As most of my followers know, I’ve been working in the multiple sclerosis (MS) field for almost a decade in some capacity (volunteering, dissertation research, etc).
@LifeAfterMyPhD This is so similar to my experience. My PI told me, "The only reason they're paying you so much is they're desperate" and "You won't make it in industry - you can hardly work here." Negging from white male academics in an attempt to get me to stay was not on my bingo card.
@marissagsmith If it's controlled, the medication agonist certainly requires prior authorization. If you don't have insurance, you will need to find a new pharmacy with a different policy. I it cowardice? Is it malicious? Is it oversight? Which is it @raleys ? I am offended regardless.
