@gabetynes Hello! Saw you were writing about this morning's decision in the Louisiana Ten Commandments case. My org, Americans United, and others involved in the case issued a join statement that you can find here: https://t.co/FMCdadlLbm. Thanks!
Appreciated the perspective of @mpvusa’s @AniZonneveld at #SRF2024 on the policy alignment of Christian Nationalists and conservative American Muslims - 2 groups many don’t think of as allies.
Great #SRF2024 presentation from historian Bruce Gourley on the importance of dialogue in helping people swayed by #ChristianNationalism realize how undemocratic and un-American their ideology is.
At #SRF2024, infuriating to hear how SCOTUS has undermined public education & church-state separation, emboldening religious extremists to push more public money into to private religious schools & try to infuse public schools with religion 🤬 @neatoday@americansunited
Update: We were allowed back inside after about 2 hours. Apparently was a fire; don't know what happened or how serious, but don't think there were serious injuries. Hallways were smoky, but all is fine inside my apartment. The cats & I are happy to be back in the AC!
Evacuating because there’s a fire in my apartment building in was not on my dance card for today! Kitties and I are safe (if less than thrilled) outside. Hope everyone is unharmed and damage minimal 🤞

"Here we are today, heartbreakingly on the last day of Pride, and the court historically in a terrible way has said for the first time ever that businesses that are open to the public, have a constitutional right to discriminate" - @rachelklaser w/ @NicolleDWallace
I obviously support Disney over Ron DeSantis and think that his weaponization of state resources against Disney for criticizing Florida's bigotry is a point and click violation of Disney's free speech.
BUT...
Sad that #SRF2023 is over? Couldn’t go & have FOMO? Enjoy a small but cool taste by listening to the latest ep of the Boom!Lawyered pod; @AngryBlackLady & @Hegemommy talk about #SCOTUS, #mifepristone & the religious extremism behind abortion bans.
🎙️ In a special live episode of Boom! Lawyered recorded at the Summit for Religious Freedom, @Hegemommy and @AngryBlackLady discuss the recent mifepristone case and its potential to pave the way for a national abortion ban.

AU’s @AndrewLSeidel: “We can’t wait for the courts or the lawyers to save us. It’s going to require organizing - building power and changing hearts and minds.” And #SRF2023 is part of that!
From @americansunited’s @GabiHybel: Ministerial exception being used to excuse all kind of mistreatment of workers, including harassment & creating hostile work environment, discrimination based on disability, age, race, etc. #SRF2023
“The ministerial exception is basically a ‘get-out-of-court-free’ card for religious organizations.” Dori Bernstein, former EEOC attorney & retired director of @GeorgetownLaw’s SCOTUS Inst. #SRF2023
From @NWLC’s @SunuChandy: If the court agrees with religious employers that you’re a minister, you lose civil rights in the workplace. And it goes far beyond clergy & teachers - an estimated 1.7M workers of religious employers are endangered. #SRF2023
