LETTERBOX LIBRARY!!
Books are my thing...I wouldn’t last long without something to read, especially during this time of social-distancing!
Now that libraries have closed and so many of you are stuck at home, I wondered if you’d like to borrow a book from my ‘library’ 📚
This is the 1st election in decades where the party I've always voted for look like they’ll win…& instead I'm voting for a party I disagree with to try to stop an even worse party getting voted in. What an awful election this is. #GeneralElection2024#ClactonDeservesBetter
Labour has no chance in Clacton. It’s a straight choice between @GilesWatling and Farage. This is the one constituency where it’s necessary to vote tactically for the Tory.
🚨 BREAKING: Nigel Farage's Clacton campaign has been exposed to have evidence of racism and homophobia
One canvasser about Rishi Sunak: "That f**king p*** we got in - what good is he?"
About small boats arrivals: "Just f**king shoot them"
At the moment, it feels like the 60%+ of voters in Clacton who reject Nigel Farage will let him win.
Because they’re either unwilling, or consider themselves unable, to vote tactically for the candidate best able to beat him.
Who seems fairly obviously to be the Conservative.
@LizbufMassey I don’t know Clacton well.
But based on the FT info, I can’t see the Conservatives falling much further (46 points down) or Labour gaining much more than the 10 points they already have.
So, Labour, Green and LibDems voters’ best (tactical) vote is Conservative, isn’t it?
@AndrewPRLevi Yes, I think so. Plus the Cons candidate is the incumbent, lives locally and is pretty inoffensive. I'm a lifelong lab voter but will be voting cons to try to keep Farage out. Strange times!
I can confirm that, as a former member of the European Parliament’s fisheries committee
Farage had also been a member. He attended just 1 meeting out of 42 - at a time when reform of the EU fishing rules were being negotiated
Dereliction of duty. He’s all talk and no action
Local friends...there's hope that we can avoid a Farage win. This poll has Cons ahead of Reform. Anyone else considering holding their noses and voting tactically for the tories? #anyonebutnigel#clacton

When we look back at the GE in a couple of weeks time, we should hopefully see that tactical voting played a big part in shaping the outcome.
Unfortunately we will probably also see a blind spot common to all tactical voting sites: Clacton.
The tactical vote there should be Tory to stop Farage.
Yes, Tory.
Why? Because Reform are surging, and many Tories will never be persuaded to vote outside of the Tory/Reform duopoly.
There aren't enough spare votes to push Labour, the LibDems or the Greens ahead, even with 100% tactical voting - which never happens in practice anyway.
But with the help of Labour, LibDem and Green voters, the Tory candidate could still be propelled ahead of Farage.
And in any rational universe, one more random Tory MP must surely be better than having Farage in Parliament?
Fortunately, this is likely to be the only really big blip of the GE. But long term, it could prove a costly one.
Last year Farage said that some people on benefits were “too fat … too stupid, too lazy” to work and suggested they sit around all day smoking drugs.
In Clacton one in five people have never had a job.
@LondonHatch I've recently put together a bibliography of books on preaching written by women. There's some great stuff on it. Happy to DM it to you if you're interested.
@MrBoothY6 Yes! It has always struck me as ridiculous that schools require a child to stay off for 48 hours if they are sick, them effectively punishes that child for doing so. My kids call them the 'Immunity Awards'!
BREAKING 🚨
Greenpeace activists have interrupted @TrussLiz speech at #CPC22 to denounce the prime minister 'shredding' her party’s 2019 manifesto promises.
The PM is U-turning on fracking, strong climate action, and world-leading environmental protections.
Who voted for this?
