Absolutely delighted that the briefing I wrote while interning at @POST_UK has won one of this year’s Harding Prizes! Thank you to the judges (and whoever nominated us)!
Today we’re proud to announce the winners of the Harding Prizes for Trustworthy Communication in 2022, along with @SMC_London
and @senseaaboutsci.
The winners do the rare job of providing information without an agenda, and with uncertainties laid bare. https://t.co/4lDTrLwxRf
Steel is one of the most difficult industries to decarbonise. In our briefing, we aimed to summarise the available and emerging tech which could reduce emissions from steelmaking, and the infrastructure and policy framework which could support a “green steel” industry in the UK.
Are you an undergrad in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th year? Do you want to gain experience of scientific research? Are you interested in earthquakes and volcanoes? 📷
@NERC_COMET

Very chuffed that the policy briefing I wrote while working at @POST_UK has been shortlisted for the Harding Prize for Trustworthy Communication - if anyone's interested in how to make the steel industry climate-friendly, you can read about it here! https://t.co/wK4uoaUbCL

As an earthquake scientist, it's difficult when events of this magnitude occur - I can't get "excited" about an earthquake which has caused huge numbers of fatalities and extensive damage...
Damaging M7.8 EQ hit southern Turkey near the Syrian border ~4am local time. PAGER is red for this event; extensive damage is probable. Our hearts go out to those affected. See @Kandilli_info for local info. https://t.co/dMyc6ZVrE1
Sad I couldn’t make it to Chicago but I’ve been enjoying all the talks so far online! Tune in or get in touch if you’re interested in earthquakes, mountains, and big forces ➡️🏔️⬅️
Are you or anyone you know interested in hazard and earthquakes? Do you like combining field work, computer analyses, and chemistry to better understand the earth? If so, I have several PhD opportunities - please get in touch to discuss them!
And Jake who's studying engineering here now who ran off to the @SidneySussexJCR to buy me a cocktail called a VORDERMAN....they sell it on the cocktail menu .... very tasty it was too... cheers Jake.....
Would encourage any PhD students even vaguely interested in science policy to take advantage of this great scheme! I learnt so much during my internship, happy to talk to anyone who wants to apply!
📢Our @UKRI_News Fellowship is now accepting applications! Open to PhD students funded by the UKRI Research Councils. Take a break from your studies and join us at the epicentre of policy 👀

@SophieMiocevich Couldn’t even spell the subject line correctly, says it all!! Awful behaviour, and completely unacceptable to speak like this to a student (or anyone, for that matter!) 😤
