If you're going to measure anything, measure the distance you've already covered. Allow your progress thus far to fill you with energy. Celebrate how far you've come.
Self-acceptance is how you start to rise in your power; it’s not the slippery slope to destruction. Self-love is how you begin to heal; it’s not the pathway to narcissism.
It is not disloyal to question, or to doubt, or to seek. It is not disloyal to say no, or not now, or please respect my boundaries. Devotion should never be the means used to take advantage of another's love, energy, time and agency.
What if we gave ourselves to the wild ways of joy, just like we've learned to give ourselves to grief when it comes. Maybe, somewhere in the future, someone will discover the five stages of joy to help us wring as much healing and beauty and wonder out of it, too.
